Coffee Meetup of 8 November 2022

On November 8, 2022, our IBDP coordinator, Dr. Ponni Chacko, organized a coffee meetup with all of the parents from DP 1. Which had a positive response, and the majority of the parents attended the Coffee meetup. It is crucial to understand that you are not required to get coffee. This is a casual meeting between two professionals outside of the office.

Typically, schools will hold coffee meetings for parents to discuss their worries about the school, the child's home life, any big changes in your family, habits, hobbies, part-time employment, religious holidays, or anything else that affects your child.

Coffee Association of Canada

Our DP coordinator organized the coffee meetup, where she presented to all of the parents an overview of IB, including what it is, the options, the grade boundary, and much more. She thought it was vital to give the parents an update on the students' performance since she had been there for roughly two months. She also mentioned the IB review visit that we will be receiving. She also got to hear what the parents had to say about their children, how they are at home, and if they work. The coffee meetup was really beneficial because the parents and coordinator learned about both points of view, which worked out nicely.

Inquiry on Smart Farming: Designing a Greener Tomorrow

On the 2 nd week of November, IB DP Year 1 students have come together to work in an interdisciplinary project regarding sustainable agriculture practices. The collaboration was done between the Group 3 subjects: Digital Society, Economics, Business Management and Environmental Systems and Societies. The students worked hard to conduct research and find real world examples and create different presentations regarding the various prospects of sustainable agriculture and its advancements. Sustainable agriculture is a big step for sustainable development, which prioritizes meeting the needs of this generation without compromising the next, so by studying this topic we got a better understanding of the current situation and the scope of improvements.   The Digital Society students focused on what existing technologies are helping agriculture be more sustainable and efficient, including case studies of different farms around the world. Economics students studied how the demand o...

TOK Presentation

On 16th and 17th our TOK Facilitator, Mr. Sajid conducted a practice session for the upcoming TOK Exhibition in May. The TOK Exhibition is crucial in DP, especially in the first year. It contains one third of the overall TOK grade and TOK is a core component in IB. It is essential that students are well prepared for the exhibition.   For the practice session, we did not do the full run through of the exhibition. For this practice session we only had to pick one object for the prompt and theme, instead of three in the actual exhibition. We had to create a display for that one object and present it to the class and our DP Coordinator.   This has been incredibly helpful for the students, because it gives us an idea of what prompt and theme we will choose. We can see if we are comfortable with the object and are good at explaining the prompt or theme. The presentation also gave us a gist of how it will be like when we present our objects in front of a huge audie...
