On 15th January, we had a collaborative class between Math Applications and Interpretations (AI) and Math Analysis and Approaches. In this class, both SL and HL classes were involved.
For our work we were split into groups of four, we had to make a poster on Bivariate statistics. We had to measure the height and weight of every student in the class and see if their height affects their weight or vice versa and. In our poster we drew a table of all the weight and height of the students and we also drew a scatter plot using the data and in conclusion for our poster we found out that in majority cases the weight does affect the height and vice versa but in some cases due to genetics or eating habits this theory could be excused.
This team work helped to deepen our understanding of collecting data and using data to derive conclusions or to identify similarities or differences. We also understood the core components of Math Applications and Interpretations (AI) and Math Analysis and Approaches. We used research skill to collect data and thinking skill to analyze data using mathematical equations and tools.
