Field Trip at Savar!

On the 3rd of November AusIS has planned a study tour to a factory in Savar for all students in IBDP. It will be a daytrip from 8:00AM to 2:00PM. This trip aims to improve students' concepts of various subjects and connect real life field work to their learning. This looks to be a fun opportunity for the students of IBDP in AusIS and is a great idea for their international mindedness and to evolve as a global citizen.

The purpose of the field trip is to engage students into further understanding of their subjects by using a real world example. The subjects in focus of this trip lead towards Business Management, Economics, Environmental Systems and Societies and Physics. With students in DP 1 completing the introduction to business management and microeconomics it will certainly guide them to a better conceptual understanding of the subject, which everyone knows is the key element to any IBDP subject.

What is interesting about this field trip is how beneficial it will be. In DP1 everyone has picked Business Management or Economics as a group 4 subject, or even both. So it seems to be an exciting occasion for students in IBDP. Thrilled to see how it goes!

TOK Inquiry

We were given the topic of electronic cigarettes (also known as vaping) and whether or not they are bad for our health in our most recent TOK lesson. When a liquid is heated in an e-cigarette, it turns into vapors or, more precisely, aerosols that the user can inhale (thus "vaping"). These appliances heat chemicals like nicotine, marijuana, various flavorings, or other potentially hazardous compounds. Nicotine is habit-forming. While less dangerous than smoking, vaping is still not secure. You inhale an aerosol produced by heating nicotine (extracted from tobacco), flavorings, and other compounds in e-cigarettes. There are 7,000 compounds in regular tobacco cigarettes, many of which are harmful.  There is obviously cause for concern given the unfortunate and distressing examples of serious lung illness. Other negative health impacts include several of the following: Nicotine is highly addictive and can affect the developing brain, potentially harming teens and young adults....
