We actually began our physics practicals this week. We're carrying out the Measuring G (falling ball) experiment. This is a mandatory experiment for both sl and hl physics students . A ball is dropped from an electromagnet or other mechanism onto a trapdoor in this experiment. A timer is started when the ball is released. The timer stops when the ball hits the trapdoor. The acceleration due to gravity (g) can be calculated by measuring the distance between the ball and the trapdoor. We will also use the suvat equation, which we learned at the start of chapter 2, to calculate, and we will have to write a report in which we will evaluate and conclude what we did in our experiment.
