Digital Society Inquiry Project

Introduction to Internal Assessment Digital societies have become an indispensable part of our everyday lives. The rise of digital technologies has brought about many positive changes, including greater access to information, communication, and collaboration. At the same time, it has introduced new challenges, such as the need to cultivate critical thinking skills and a global perspective. Digital Societies provide students with the necessary opportunities to identify real-world problems and challenge themselves to devise solutions to make the digital world a better place.    Both Standard and Higher level students are required to complete the Internal Assessment during their course of Diploma Programme. SL and HL Duration: 30 hours Maximum marks: 24 at SL and HL Weighting: 30% at SL and 20% at HL Students are required to make their own inquiry document which contains the research questions, presentation and all sorts of references. This helps students to awaken their research skills

Presentation on French Festivals

As the unit tests end, the students of DP 1 have started a new topic in French and it is about festivals. This topic is essential for our intercultural understanding. Festivals play a major role in different cultures and this will allow the students to view what is celebrated around the world. We were given a task to create a presentation on a festival from European culture and our own culture. It is also important to learn about our own culture.   There were a variety of different festivals talked about in the presentations. As we had to describe the festivals in French with focus on the traditions, history, food and activities, it was not only enlightening for international mindedness, it was also excellent writing practice in French. After each presentation we were given feedback on how to improve our writing and how it can help us score better in the exams. She also made sure to point out critical mistakes to look out for in writing. This was an exciting activity and it was really

Investigating Circular Motion & Circular Force

An object in circular motion does not have a constant velocity because the direction is always changing. The acceleration of the objects is directed towards the center of the circle. The formula for the centripetal acceleration is a=v^2/R. R is the radius of the circle and v is the constant speed of the circle. As the radius of a circle becomes larger, the centripetal acceleration will decrease. In order to determine the centripetal force of an object we use the formula F=mv^2. Force is equal to Mass x Acceleration. By examining the effects of a radius on an object’s circular path, we performed an experiment on circular motion. In our experiment, centripetal force will be provided by a hanging mass of weight W, M will be the mass of the rubber bung. We found out how the velocity will be affected as we change the radius of an object which is in a circular motion.    The hypothesis is that as the radius of the object in circular motion increases the velocity of the object will i

Virtual University Fair for DP Students

On the 28th of February, 2023 there was a Virtual University Fair conducted in our school for the students of IBDP. This was different from our usual university fairs because this time it was virtual. This means that instead of the universities visiting us in our school, we set up a google meet for them to present their universities. Although it was different it was still informative as many universities from Canada, Australia, Singapore and India were present. They talked about entry requirements, campuses, the subjects they can offer and scholarships provided. What was interesting was that all the universities had something unique to offer, such as the University of Victoria offering co-op which is essentially a paid internship of the subject you are studying or ESSEC offering global BBAs.      This was very enlightening for the students of DP, because we got to know about the various options available to us. We learnt about when to apply and what to aim for in IB. There is exp

Annual Sports Day 2023

On February 8 and 9, 2023, the eagerly anticipated Annual Sports Day took place amid much passion, enthusiasm, and good times. Pupils, teachers, and parents all gather together for a day of competitive exercise on sports day. While some schools decide to award medals or prizes to the winners of the different competitions, for others, simply participating is a reward in and of itself. In his opening remarks, our school's director welcomed the distinguished audience and stressed the value of sports in a student's life. The Faculties, Mr. Jamil, our Sports Head, and the Director severed the ribbon to officially kick off the event to loud applause and music. The students entered into the spirit of the occasion in a grand way. An energizing equestrian display set the tone for the rest of the events. Once the event began, the air was filled with cheering and encouragement for the young athletes.     Students from different grades including pre-primary and final-year students
