Virtual University Fair for DP Students

On the 28th of February, 2023 there was a Virtual University Fair conducted in our school for the students of IBDP. This was different from our usual university fairs because this time it was virtual. This means that instead of the universities visiting us in our school, we set up a google meet for them to present their universities. Although it was different it was still informative as many universities from Canada, Australia, Singapore and India were present. They talked about entry requirements, campuses, the subjects they can offer and scholarships provided. What was interesting was that all the universities had something unique to offer, such as the University of Victoria offering co-op which is essentially a paid internship of the subject you are studying or ESSEC offering global BBAs.

This was very enlightening for the students of DP, because we got to know about the various options available to us. We learnt about when to apply and what to aim for in IB. There is expected to be more of these university fairs in the future and that is incredible, because they take a lot of pressure off of students. Being this close to university life, especially for the DP Year 2 can be overwhelming and the university is a major help in alleviating these fears.

Visit to EMK Center: A Hands-On Adventure in Technology and Innovation

Students from IB DP Year 2 and WACE 11 had an exciting and educational visit to the EMK Center, diving into the world of technology through interactive activities. The day began with a fun introduction to Makey Makey, where students turned everyday objects like paper and pencil into touchpads, blending creativity with basic electronics. They then engaged in a problem-solving session, learning the importance of asking the right questions before diving into solutions. Next, the students experienced the thrill of coding with a drone flying activity, where they controlled mini drones using tools similar to Scratch. Additionally, they got hands-on experience with SketchUp software, creating 3D models of houses, which helped them understand the basics of design and architecture. A key highlight of the visit was exploring Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR), where students immersed themselves in virtual environments and learned about the practical uses of these cutting-edge techno...
