Physics Lab Work

On the day before the Eid vacation, a compulsory physics lab was held at school. The lab was based on applying calorimetric techniques experimentally, and the task that the students were given was to determine the specific heat capacity of an unknown solid.

The lab was conducted very smoothly, and the students were highly enthusiastic about the experiment. They were able to perform the required tasks with great precision and accuracy, which is a testament to the quality of education at the Australian International School.

The lab began with an introduction to the principles of calorimetry and the equipment used in the experiment. The students were given a brief overview of the importance of specific heat capacity and how it relates to the transfer of heat between objects.

After the introduction, the students were divided into groups and assigned a set of materials to work with. They were given the task of measuring the specific heat capacity of an unknown solid by using a calorimeter. The students had to heat the solid in boiling water and then transfer it to a calorimeter, where the change in temperature was measured.

The students were able to perform the experiment successfully, and they recorded accurate measurements. They were able to calculate the specific heat capacity of the unknown solid.

The lab was a great learning experience for the students, as they were able to apply theoretical concepts to a real-world situation. It also helped them to develop their practical skills, such as measuring and recording accurate data.

Overall, the physics lab conducted at the Australian International School was a success, and the students were able to learn a lot from it. It was an excellent example of how theoretical concepts can be applied practically and how hands-on learning can enhance a student's educational experience.

Inspiring Minds: A Journey of Education, Life, and Gratitude

Education is not only restricted to textbooks and classrooms; it covers a larger knowledge of life, purpose, and the pursuit of achievement. Australian International School Dhaka, promotes complete growth while inspiring pupils to attain their best potential is of highest significance. In a recent engagement project, the school invited Dr. Shahpar Nahrir, a parent of IBDP 1 students Maryam and Amina Bushra, who discussed her life experiences, opinions on education, and important life advice. Dr. Nahrir, having a background in neurological surgery at Evercare Hospital, wants to teach students the significance of hard effort, persistence, and thankfulness in their path towards making a significant effect on society.  The Australian International School's dedication to offering a well-rounded education goes beyond academic differences. Recognizing the relevance of real-life experiences and ideas, the school regularly invites guest speakers to share their tales and viewpoints. Dr...

Exploring Biodiversity: IB DP Year 2 Biology Students Conduct Line Transect Activity

Recently, IB DP Year 2 biology students embarked on an exciting line transect activity on the new school field to study plant species and soil properties. This innovative method of identifying organisms within an ecosystem involves systematic sampling at regular intervals to observe and record biodiversity along a line.   Using a 10-meter rope, students examined organisms every 2 meters along the transect, identifying two plant species: Cornus serica L. and Cenchrus echinatus L. . Despite aiming to collect five soil samples for testing pH, salinity, and total dissolved solids (TDS), the experiment was interrupted by rain, limiting the collection to three samples. Another challenge was the presence of bricks in the soil, which prevented digging at one of the sites. In the lab, students measured TDS levels ranging from 18.2 to 22 ppm, salinity from 17 to 18, and pH between 7.63 and 7.68. This hands-on activity provided valuable insights into the local ecosystem within the...

Inquiry on Smart Farming: Designing a Greener Tomorrow

On the 2 nd week of November, IB DP Year 1 students have come together to work in an interdisciplinary project regarding sustainable agriculture practices. The collaboration was done between the Group 3 subjects: Digital Society, Economics, Business Management and Environmental Systems and Societies. The students worked hard to conduct research and find real world examples and create different presentations regarding the various prospects of sustainable agriculture and its advancements. Sustainable agriculture is a big step for sustainable development, which prioritizes meeting the needs of this generation without compromising the next, so by studying this topic we got a better understanding of the current situation and the scope of improvements.   The Digital Society students focused on what existing technologies are helping agriculture be more sustainable and efficient, including case studies of different farms around the world. Economics students studied how the demand o...
