First Aid as First Activity in the Academic Year of 2023

DP Year 1 and DP Year 2 began their academic year including a new CAS activity known as ‘First Aid’. AusIS has introduced a first aid class as a way of expanding student’s knowledge on medical and emergency situations. This activity aims to help students adapt and understand intense situations and have a logical understanding of what needs to be done, and the procedures which need to be taken in case of medical emergencies, Dr. Faisal is the teacher for first aid who has already taken a few classes on CPR, determining if a person is conscious or not, and the concept of first aid and its importance.

The students have already undergone practical and theoretical scenarios with Dr. Faisal and what procedures and steps needed to be taken. The classes have been very productive and will continue to broaden the student’s knowledge. This activity also relates to our service and individual learning criteria, challenges & new skills, initiative, and awareness are the core targeted learning outcomes for the students. We hope to see students improve their knowledge on basic medical skills and capitalize on the opportunity provided to us. And this concludes the first official Australian International School Blog Post on the first aid.

Recognizing the relevance of real-life experiences and ideas, the school regularly invites guest speakers to share their tales and viewpoints. Dr...

ESS Experiment on Soil

As the new term begins, so does a new experiment for ESS. These experiments are really fun for students as they can gain lab work experience and are beneficial because of the lab report that has to be done following it. For DP1, we are starting the chapter of Soil Systems and Society. Soil is a necessity on Earth and one of the roles is that it helps to grow plants. Our experiment was to analyze two samples of soils, garden soil and roadside soil. With these two samples we found its pH, moisture, water capacity and texture. It is important to understand these qualities in soil because when they are in a certain condition, it is the best for growing plants.   This experiment was very messy, but it was enjoyable. The students were divided into three groups and it was a new experience for everyone. Although we have done experiments before, we did not use some of the apparatus used in this experiment, so it was a new challenge for us. Equipment such as the dropper, glass rod...

Understanding the Role of Propaganda

A few days ago in English class we had a task of creating posters on propaganda. The aim was to understand the role of propaganda in spreading views and how it shapes people’s mindset.     What is propaganda? Propaganda is communication that is primarily used to influence or persuade an audience to further an agenda, which may or may not be objective and may include selectively presenting facts to encourage a particular synthesis or perception, or using loaded language to elicit an emotional rather than a rational response to the information being presented.    International propaganda aims to influence global audiences' attitudes and ideas, modify their connection with their home governments, or offer an alternative view of their own and the world's conditions.   The novel we are studying in class, 1984 has a key theme which is propaganda. In the novel, the Party's main and most successful weapon is utilized to deceive, confuse, and contro...
